- Phuket
Lying off the west coast, and connected to the mainland by the Sarasin Bridge, Phuket is one of Thailand’s most popular holiday destinations. With over thirty beaches on Phuket island and the bustling town of the same name, there is something for all ages, tastes and budgets.
The beautiful palm-fringed, white sand beaches are a draw in themselves. A wide variety of water sports can be enjoyed, and there are regular boat trips to neighbouring islands or cruises around Phang Nga Bay. Explore the many small bays and coves around the island, before enjoying a little retail therapy and al fresco dining in the cool of the evening.
- Cha-Am & Hua Hin
Sitting along the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, there is just 25 km between the two popular resorts of Cha-Am and Hua Hin. A three-hour drive from Bangkok, and with good local transport, both resorts are popular with Thai holidaymakers and foreign visitors. Although not open to the general public, there is a royal palace in Hua Hin, and Cha Am is said to have the longest beach in Thailand.
Hotels and guest houses are spread along the length of the seafront, which also spreads the guests out. Great for families, the activities include banana boat rides and beach pony rides, diving and snorkelling, windsurfing, water-skiing and parascending. For those who just want to chill with a good book, you can seek shade from the trees along the shore’s edge, or the parasols on the beach. Considering the excellent golf courses and other attractions close by, there are some great package deals for the budget traveller, while the well-heeled have a good selection of five-star hotels.
- Koh Yao Noi
Koh Yao Noi is one of a pair of large islands sitting in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, off the Phuket coastline. In 2002, Koh Yao Noi was awarded the highest of accolades from Conservation International, and National Geographic, for their management of visitor numbers and eco-friendly homestay programmes.
Even today, over fifteen years later, the island is still the destination for tourists who want to get away from it all. Away from the hustle and bustle of the big touristy cities and islands. Accommodations on Koh Yao Noi are known for its beauty and uniqueness. You won’t find streets lined with bars and clubs here, although you can get a drink in your accommodation. Sea sports are well represented with diving, snorkelling and swimming, while for those who don’t like to get their feet wet, there are some great hiking trails. Be sure to carry cash on your visit, as there are no banks.
- Natai Beach
Just north of Phuket, Phang Nga Province lies ten-kilometres of pristine white coral sand, known as Natai Beach. Natai Beach is quiet and peaceful, and is one of Thailand’s few undiscovered beaches, at least, by the majority of tourists. Don’t expect to find stacked sunbeds, parasols, jet-skis, powerboats, or snack bars here. Instead, think azure sea, clear lagoons and shady coconut groves. There is just a single, independent beachfront restaurant which offers typical Thai seafood. But all is not lost. The nearby township of Khok Kloi offers a more diverse range of eateries, as well as the usual Thai shops and ATMs.
- Koh Lanta
If you want to be chilled, relaxed, and laid back, head for Koh Lanta. This group of islands, seventy kilometres from Krabi, has it all. Koh Lanta Yai, the largest of the islands, is also the most popular and contains all the facilities and attractions you are likely to need. From its early days as a backpacker’s paradise, the archipelago now caters for all.
Explore the crystal clear water, the magnificent coral reefs, verdant jungle, and sandy beaches. Enjoy beautiful sunsets, the relaxed atmosphere, and quiet beaches. Or get up and go. Get involved in the water sports, or hire a scooter and tour the other bays, beaches and islands, the local towns, or the fabulous National Park.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is home to eight million people, and the destination of twenty-million visitors annually. It is a city of colour, iconic landmarks, and bustling street markets. Of punt filled canals and gourmet street food. As a couple, you can find plenty of things to do, things to see, things to eat in Bangkok.
