Ways to Achieve Inner Peace

Being on the go Monday through Friday can leave you feeling anxious and overwhelmed. When the weekend comes along you look forward to a reduced pace. However, when raising a family, sometimes the weekends can be anything but relaxing. Thankfully, there are many ways to find inner peace and keep your mind and your body healthy.

Dispose of the Super Mom Syndrome

First, there is no such thing as a super mom. There, are women who pull it off better than others and seemingly have all their ducks in a row at all times. The key word here is “seemingly.”  No one person can do everything. And, while some may be able to do it for the short term, it’s only a matter of time before they crack. Instead of trying to carry the entire world on your shoulders, learn how to delegate duties. It may be difficult at first, especially as the laundry starts to pile up and it’s not your week to handle it.

Take a Long Walk

Living in a house that’s anything but quiet can make even a calm-by-nature person want to scream.  Luckily, you have an escape. Put on a pair of comfortable shoes and your jacket and alert the family you’ll be back. A long brisk walk will help to clear your mind and restore order to your system. Plus, by getting the blood pumping and your heart rate accelerated you’ll return refreshed and happy.

Reduce the Clutter

Clutter, whether at home or the office, can instantly have a negative impact on your life. Someone needs their shoes, while another can’t find their homework and then you’re scrambling to find the keys. Thankfully, you can eliminate the chaos by getting things in order. Get everyone on board, including the children, and take a few weekends to remove the clutter. Fabric storage bins, wicker baskets and mountable boards with hooks are just a few ways to start tidying things up.

Think Positively

It’s much easier to believe negative thoughts than to keep yourself in a positive mode. For some, it’s a way to prevent disappointment in the event something doesn’t turn out as they expect. However, living life with a glass-half-empty mentality doesn’t let you achieve peace of mind. Practice thinking only positive thoughts. This doesn’t mean that suddenly things won’t go wrong, but the things that go right will be gratifying. It’s also important to surround yourself with people who view life in a positive way. So, if you have a couple of friends or family members who are constantly complaining, avoid spending a lot of time in their company.

Meditation

Meditation is a powerful tool that you can perform any time of the day. When you feel a little off or out of your comfort zone, meditate for a few minutes. Connecting the body and mind restores harmony, which results in an instant calming effect. If you cannot help yourself to sit still and attain calmness, consider using cannabis. You can either take edibles or try a dry herb vaporizer (check the basics of using one) that can help you feel relaxed enough for a meditation session.

Perfectionism

No one does everything correctly. There are some people who are good listeners, good speakers, good at fixing just about anything and those who are fun. Find your strengths and work on your weaknesses. But, most of all accept who you are. Perfectionism is something unachievable, whereas being the best you possible is a goal worth seeking.

Keeping Up With the Jones

Material things are just that, material. You buy a large home, have two nice cars and your children go to private school. With all the money invested, you expect to feel good. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. There’s nothing wrong with having nice things, but don’t expect them to brand you happy. If you buy something because it satisfies you, that’s wonderful. However, if you buy things more often to impress others, you’re not remaining true to you.

Achieving inner peace is possible. Declutter, get organized, share responsibilities and accept who you are. These are great steps to a calmer life.
