How to plan a pre-wedding skincare routine?

In an engulfed market with beauty products flowing in that promise to deliver miraculous results, finding the one for you – that perfect pigmentation-free, spotless, glowing, hydrated skin on your wedding day can be disheartening.

Do you ever feel that your skin has suddenly started to break out or get extra oily or dry since you started planning your wedding?

If so, it’s because your skin is feeling the stress just the way you are, before your wedding day. Your physical & mental health clearly reflects on your skin.

You would definitely want to look and feel the best version of yourself on your wedding day and while you have your hands completely full & packed with wedding planning, leave the Skincare Routine research to us!

The first and possibly the most crucial step in preparing for your pre-wedding skin is managing expectations from yourself. Your skin will always have texture and pores as it’s a part of all of us! Accepting that, we will help you to make an effective and practical skin-care plan.

So as opposed to binge-purchasing every product in sight, take some time to be aware of what exactly your primary concerns might be, whether that’s reducing acne, increasing collage or elasticity for an added glow, or simply hydration. This will ultimately help you to create a routine that makes sense for you and put you on track towards an achievable skin-care plan for your wedding day. Let’s go month-by-month.

A Year Before your Wedding Day

  • The CTM Rule:

Stick to the basics first, because you can’t go wrong with this!

No skincare routine is complete without a proper CTM (cleansing, toning, & moisturizing). We would also like to add an ‘S’ to this for serum because we feel that’s equally important to treat specific skin concerns.

Let’s start simple with cleansing – whether you want to go in for a single or double cleanse is totally up to you.

However, double cleansing does ensure absolute removal of dirt & blackheads left on your skin with make-up products applied prior. At least, you do want a clean face before glazing on more skincare.

  • Consult a Dermatologist:
  • No doubt you know your skin, but a dermatologist can help you tackle any skin issues along the way to your wedding day. Consult a dermatologist a year or nine months before to get a complete skin care plan, and discuss your skin conditions.
  • –        Ask the dermatologist for products that will best suit your skin type. If you have dry skin, avoid using makeup products that can lead to bloating & pimples. If you have oily skin, choose water-based products. They will keep your skin hydrated.
  • Never forget the sunscreen. Exposing your skin to the UV rays will not only burn your skin but also cause premature aging. Consult your dermatologist for the right sunscreen, for your age and skin tone. You will naturally notice a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and age spots.
  • Do not ignore the Neck & Décolletage:

The skin on your neck area is thinner than the rest of your body. So, take extra care of that portion. Ask a dermatologist for the safest products to smoothen this area.

  • Use Retinol Creams:

Retinol creams increase skin elasticity, reduce signs of aging, you can also get cosmetic treatment for wrinkles but we know that option isn’t for everyone so you can also proceed to call a dermatologist before trying any of these products.

  • Relieve Stress:

Stress is often left unchecked which can lead to many health problems as a whole, and deteriorates your skin health, leading to dark patches and dullness. Therefore, below are the steps to relieve stress for glowing skin.

  • Try breathing and stretching exercises.
  • Go for a walk.
  • Practice meditation.
  • Dry brush your skin.
  • Go for Facial Treatments:

Indulge in regular facials and exfoliating treatments. Such treatments will keep your skin perfectly toned and sprightly-looking on your wedding day.

  • Hire a Makeup Artist:

Finding a good make-up artist in Bangalore can be a tedious job but it’s necessary to hire the one who  enables you to try out different looks and explore what fits best with your personality, attire, and overall wedding theme.

  • Exercise Regularly:

One of the natural & finest ways to make your skin healthy and glowing is by working out daily. It keeps you fit, and you will notice higher & positive energy levels throughout the day.

Maintain a Balanced Diet:

Eat a good amount of fruits and green leafy vegetables to keep your skin hydrated. Consult a diet consultant for a balanced diet that can boost your energy and impart a natural glow to your skin.

Take out Time for Yourself:

Planning a wedding means meeting & greeting a lot of people, which may lead to stress & anxiety. You must make some time for yourself daily at least a month prior to your wedding day. You will be surprised how much this can have a positive impact on your skin, mental, physical, and emotional health.

Get a coffee, read a book, or go shopping, whatever calms, relieves, and excites you.

  • Do your Final Makeup checks.
  • Religiously follow the CTM Routine.
  • Practice some light exercises to let your skin breathe.
  • Massage your face daily for up to 5-10 minutes to increase blood flow.
  • Get 7-8 hours of sleep to keep your skin energized.
  • Do not apply any makeup before your wedding day. Let it breathe.
  • Indulge yourself in a full-body massage for relief.

Your skin has an incredible power to bring out your inner beauty, and when it comes to your wedding, your skin should look flawless.

A healthy lifestyle – mentally & physically can make all the difference to your skin. Apart from all that, the most important thing to remember – make sure you are happy because all the above will only matter if you’ll be happy inside out.
