Baptism Celebration Ideas

Your little one is growing up (way too fast!) and somehow, you’re planning their baptism! This is such a big day for your child, and you want to do whatever you can to make it as special and memorable for them as possible.

One easy way to do this is to host a celebration after the baptism! It’s possible that you’re going to have family visiting from out of town or friends coming in for the big day, and creating an opportunity for everyone to continue the celebration will be widely enjoyed.

Take a look at some of our favorite themes for a baptism celebration!

It’s Great to Be Eight

One of the most classic themes to go with is It’s Great to Be Eight. Since the customary age of children in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is eight, this is a great way to go! You could do a cake in the shape of the number eight, or perhaps arrange cupcakes to look like an eight. There are tons of cute Great to Be Eight printables that you can take advantage of as well!

I Like to Look for Rainbows

Inspired by the primary song “When I Am Baptized”, planning a themed party around the line “I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain” is an adorable way to go for a baptism party. If you want to go all out, you could make a rainbow balloon arch as a cute photo op. Rainbow cake, a rainbow fruit or veggie platter, multi-colored candies, the possibilities are endless. Don’t forget the perfect gift! Seagull Book’s baptism gifts are a great way to go.

A Few of My Favorite Things

It is a birthday, after all! Consider what some of your child’s favorite things are and plan the party around that. You’ll love looking back on the photos of this theme because it will help you to remember some of the things that made your child unique. Maybe they can choose some of their favorite toys, books and other items to display.

The Covenant Path

Baptism is one big step on the covenant path. Maybe use this concept to plan the baptism celebration! You could display the outfit that they wore during their baby blessing, display your own old missionary tags if they want to serve a mission one day, and display pictures of the temple to symbolize the ultimate goal of going inside one day. You could find a cute print of the words to “I Love to See The Temple” for the perfect finishing touch.

Whatever direction you decide to take for your little one’s baptism celebration, be sure to pick something that they will love. This is one of the biggest days of their life so far, give them a party that they will look back on with fondness.
